Mn Senate District 25 Seat Meet and Greet for Al DeKruif

November 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You are invited to attend a Meet & Greet for Al DeKruif, Minnesota State Senate Candidate in District 25. It will be held at the Community Resource Bank on Hwy 3 Tuesday November 24 and Tuesday Dec 1, 2009 at 7 PM.

Invite our conservative friends!

See you there!

Al

Beginnings: I was born and raised in Southern Minnesota by my parents who taught me a strong work ethic and Christian Values. We were poor growing up on a small farm, but I never knew it because we had everything we needed.

I attended College at the University of Minnesota-Waseca and studied Business Management. Worked in the field of Construction running my own Construction Company for 10 years and as Construction Manager for a Commercial Company for 2 years.

Current: Married for 32 years to Carol and have two children, Jason and Missy. Missy is married and we have one Grandson with another on the way!

Have worked 20 years as a Consultant in the field of Heavy Hauling specializing in obtaining permits and doing planning to move Super Loads within power plants many of which are Nuclear.

Own and operate Sakatah Trail Resort with my wife Carol, located near Elysian in LeSueur County for past 14 years.

Why I am Running for the State Senate in District 25: When I look back to when I graduated from High School in the mid 70’s times were very different. Our State and Nation have lost so much socially and economically since then. I also look at my grandson who is just a baby and wonder what the world will be like in 20 years when he will be joining the job market. I have to run for the Senate, to stop the steady slide toward socialism we are encountering. I have to run for my grandchildren so they can have a bright future, enjoying the freedoms our Nations Founders intended for them.

The Future: We have to start thinking outside the box to supply a world-class education for our children. Teaming with businesses to have them assist in teaching our accelerated students, during the summer months, in the areas of Math and Science. Our children need to be challenged, while studying real world solutions that our businesses are encountering.

Businesses have to be allowed to grow and thrive so they may become the next large companies in Minnesota and the World. Improving the business climate in Minnesota to create jobs is the number 1 priority with me.

My Time: I love to hunt pheasants with my German Shorthaired Pointer, although she is better at it than I. We enjoy being in the field together.

My wife and I are proud to ride our motorcycles with the MN Patriot Guard where we stand at funerals for fallen soldiers showing honor and respect for our fallen heroes. I served in a leadership role as Ride-Captain for the Mankato Sector for 2 years.

I am on the Board of Trustees in our Church this, my third year serving as Chairman of the Board. I am Pro-Life.

Kline Line: White House Opens Door to Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants

White House Opens Door
to Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants

Dear Friends,

Last weekend, the White House announced that an immigration reform bill could become law as early as next year. David Axelrod, a senior advisor to President Barack Obama, told CNN that legislation would create a path to citizenship for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already in the United States. As a result, more than 50 anti-amnesty rallies were held Saturday around the nation to protest the Obama Administration’s intentions.

Our nation has long benefited culturally and economically by welcoming legal immigrants. However, unregulated, illegal immigration threatens to destroy a carefully constructed system of immigration and assimilation. I will continue to oppose amnesty because of the principle of fairness and respect for the rule of law. The first action of those who would live in our country and contribute to our society should be to respect our laws.

Real immigration reform should address the most critical problems facing our immigration system. We must push for legislation that will strengthen border security, establish an employer verification system, and penalize those who hire illegal foreign labor. Among the highest priorities for any bill Congress passes is an outright rejection of any form of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Preserving Our Nation’s Godly Heritage

The “Freedom From Religion Foundation,” an atheist and agnostic organization, filed a lawsuit seeking to have the words, “In God We Trust,” and the Pledge of Allegiance, including the words, “one nation, under God,” erased from the face of the new Visitor Center at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. In response, I have joined three U.S. Senators and 40 of my colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives in filing an amicus brief asking the lawsuit be dismissed.

There has been a persistent effort to deny our Godly heritage in America and literally remove the word, “God,” from our buildings, practices, and institutions. Consider the roles God and faith have played in the development of our great nation and how this foundation is ever present today in our nation’s capital. Washington is replete with examples of how our founders viewed faith as an integral part of our culture.

The subtle manner in which our faith history is portrayed in our monuments and landmarks belies the fact that faith is an assumed part of our identity. In Congress, I will do what I can to preserve and protect our nation’s Godly heritage.

A look into the future of Government Run Healthcare

November 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

1.jpg

Greetings!Yesterday the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force issued new advice concerning when women should begin having mammograms. The task force stated that most women in their 40’s don’t need mammograms and should get one every two years starting at age 50. This is in direct opposition to the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Following the task force report, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization issued the following statement, “Susan G. Komen for the Cure wants to eliminate any impediments to regular mammography screening for women age 40 and older. While there is no question that mammograms save lives for women over 50 and women 40-49, there is enough uncertainty about the age at which mammography should begin and the frequency of screening that we would not want to see a change in policy for screening mammography at this time”, Eric P. Winer M.D. chief scientific adviser and chair of Komen’s Scientific Advisory Board.

So, who are we to believe? The American Cancer Society, Dr. Winer – the chief scientific adviser of the leading breast cancer awareness organization, or the government? Let me put it this way. If your daughter felt a lump in her breast at age 41, would you rely on the government’s findings and tell her she can wait until she’s 50 to get it checked, or would you tell her to get a mammogram immediately? When the government takes over your healthcare, you won’t have a choice.

This is a perfect example of what is going to happen when the government gets control of your healthcare. They won’t call it “rationing”. They will call it cost effective preventative medicine. They will have a group of “experts” issue a report telling us that we don’t need mammograms until age 50 because most women don’t get cancer before then. Tell that to the children of a 40 year old mother who died from breast cancer. And there will be other reports from these “experts”. What’s next? The costs and risks of flu shots outweigh the benefits? The result would be that the government would no longer issue flu shots and thousands would die unnecessarily every year. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

People and organizations tend to act in ways in which they have a financial incentive. Like it or not, the government has a financial incentive to lower your life expectancy. Because the longer you live, the more you cost the government in Social Security, Medicare, and soon healthcare benefits. So, do you think future governmental policies concerning preventative health will lean toward the “better safe than sorry” mentality, allowing you to get tested earlier rather than later? Or do you think the government would be more likely to take a “wait and see” approach?

One more reason we must not allow the government to destroy the greatest healthcare system in the world.

Government Takeover of Health Care Now Closer Than Ever

November 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Action Alert!
Government Takeover of Health Care Now Closer Than EverReaganIn a matter of days, 100 people in Washington DC will decide the future of your health care by uttering a single word; either “aye” or “nay.” The health care ‘reform’ bill, HR 3962, was passed in the House on October 31. This mammoth 2000 page bill establishes unprecedented government control of all health care insurance and services delivered in the United States. The bill has one final hurdle to clear before becoming the law of the land: The US Senate. The bill must first advance by a motion to proceed and a cloture vote to end debate. These procedural motions require 60 votes to pass and represent the single best chance to stop this bill. If the bill is allowed to proceed to a vote on the floor, only a simple majority will be required to pass the bill, just 51 votes.

If this bill becomes law, you are going to pay more for health insurance and get less. Everyone will be required to purchase government-approved health insurance or be assessed a huge fine or thrown in jail. The government will be put in-charge of deciding what medical treatments will be available to you and your family. Over 100 new government bureaucracies will be created resulting in over $1 trillion in new government spending. Over $700 billion in new taxes will be imposed on businesses and individuals. Nearly $500 billion will be confiscated from Medicare resulting in less care being available for senior citizens. Jobs will be destroyed as small businesses are faced with a mandate of providing government-approved health insurance for their employees or suffering an 8% payroll tax. The bill will be especially devastating for Minnesota jobs as it imposes a new 2.5% excise tax on all medical devices, a major industry in Minnesota.

With all of the bank and auto company bailouts that have occurred in the past 12 months, the government now controls nearly 30% of the US economy. Health care represents an additional 18% of the economy that would fall under government control if this bill becomes law. When the government controls a society’s means of production and centrally plans the economy, that is the definition of communism. This isn’t a first step towards communism — it’s a giant leap into it and it could happen in a matter of days if we don’t stop it now.

John Kline’s Pork Report: Pelosi’s Promise to ‘Drain the Swamp’ Remains Unfulfilled

Pelosi’s Promise to ‘Drain the Swamp’
Remains Unfulfilled

“‘Drain the swamp’ means to turn this Congress into the most honest and open Congress in history.
That’s my pledge – that is what I intend to do.”
Nancy Pelosi, NBC Nightly News, Nov. 8, 2006

Dear friends,

This week marks the three-year anniversary of Nancy Pelosi’s infamous promise to “drain the swamp” in Congress. I would be one of the first in line, but unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi’s words have failed to match Congress’ (in)action.

Most members of Congress agree that the congressional earmarking process has evolved into a corrupt and broken system with no regard for merit. And most concur this wasteful practice has eroded public confidence in our ability to marshal the nation’s financial resources. Yet very little has been done during the past three years of Speaker Pelosi’s leadership to address the reckless spending problem that is pervasive in Washington.

Ten months ago, I delivered a petition to Speaker Pelosi signed by more than 7,000 Americans asking Congress to end the current earmark system. But when it comes to breaking Washington of its spending habits, we face an uphill battle, and I need your help.

Consider the latest example, as reported by the Boston Globe:

“U.S. Representative Stephen F. Lynch has engineered four federal grants for a community health center and another three grants for a nearby substance abuse program, organizations for which his wife, Margaret, is an employee or board member.

“Lynch arranged the passage of $760,430 in federal earmarks for the South Boston Community Health Center. Margaret Lynch is the center’s director of marketing and development. Earmarks totaling $881,018 were appropriated for the Gavin Foundation, a residential substance abuse program. Lynch’s wife was named to the foundation’s unpaid board just after it received its first earmark in 2003.

“The earmarks for the two organizations totaled $1.64 million. For both organizations, the funding was for substance abuse services. Lynch could cite no instance in which he has obtained earmarked funds for any other substance abuse treatment facility in his district, which includes much of the southern part of Boston and 19 other cities and towns…

“Steve Ellis, vice president of programs at Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan budget watchdog group in Washington, said any earmark directed to an organization with personal ties to a congressman can be troubling, even if fully disclosed.

“While both of these may be laudable organizations achieving important goals, it always concerns us when lawmakers are directing federal funding towards entities that their family is involved in,” Ellis said.

Weekly Waste Watch: $1.3 Million for Archaeological Surveys on Man Made Lakes

Each week on my Stop the Pork website, I highlight examples of government waste on the “Weekly Waste Watch” page. This week’s installment comes from Connecticut, where $1.3 million of stimulus money was spent for archaeological surveys and routine maintenance on man made lakes.

Local and state officials have expressed frustration with the use of stimulus funds for “oddball projects like these.” Charles LeConche, business manager of the Connecticut Laborers District Council, responded candidly to these federally funded projects: “That wasn’t the intent of the stimulus package. The intent was to create jobs. My Local in New London has 500 people out of work!”

Exactly how helpful has the stimulus been for jobs in Connecticut? Donald Shubert, president of the Connecticut Construction Industry Association answers: “Back in February and March, everyone’s expectation was that the stimulus money would have a big impact on jobs here,” he said. “It didn’t come true. Very little actual work is taking place.”
